ANTI MEDITATION: Art of Untying The Knots of Your Daily Thoughts

What do you do if your hairs get tangled? Do you cut them from the point where the knots are formed or you untangle it?

If you’re like most people, you will prefer untangling it until there is some extreme rush about finishing the task.

Now that over there was, what you call, a metaphor. And it pretty much describes the theme of this blog.

Experts estimate that the mind thinks between 60,000–80,000 thoughts a day. That’s an average of 2500–3,300 thoughts per hour. Yet there are mostly a few things that drain our mental peace. Not more than 5 or 6. Anxiety regarding your board results, stressful thoughts about your career, infuriated political arguments on the Twitter, intolerable opinion of extremists, arguments with your spouse/partner, and much more.

In this blog, I will talk about a much simple alternative of meditation to restore mental peace that is more helpful than meditation itself. This is in no way is a disregard to meditation, I still consider it the best way to connect yourself with divinity, yet most of us fail to achieve it.

So, the first things first.

What is Anti Meditation?

Anti meditation is a term I coined a few days back for a practice that I had started recently.

In Anti meditation, one analyzes all the energy-consuming thoughts that have crossed through one’s mind throughout the day. It’s the analysis of all the disturbing moments of the day, one thought at a time with immense patience and honesty.

Absolutely opposite of what you do when you meditate.

How to Practice Anti Meditation?

There are no hard and fast rules to practice it. Yet I’ll still mention the necessary ordinances required in 3 simple steps.

  1. Sit or walk in the silence of your thoughts. Physical silence is not a necessity, but it is preferable.
  2. Start thinking about your day in chronological order. Only the significant things, positive and negative. Reflect upon the positive things for self-appreciation or gratitude and on the negative things for self-criticism.
  3. Analyze the disturbing moments in your day with patience and examine your actions in those situations. Take responsibility for those actions and highlight things that you can improve upon.

That’s all you have to do. Think.

Benefits

Sometimes we avoid the bitter thoughts instead of knitting a strategy that can be used to tackle the problems associated with those thoughts. Simply because the latter requires you to put in the efforts of thinking. Even when the effort to do so is minuscule and if executed properly can present miraculous results.

The whole purpose of this blog is to turn you into a warrior who chooses to face his demons rather than avoiding them. Because…

You cannot win a war where you don’t face your enemies.

Anti Meditation is your time to build strategies that will not only assist you to fight your problems but also to win over them.

Every day, at any time after 8 in the evening, just sit or walk thinking about the things you did during the day, think about the thoughts that came across your mind, think about the situations that disturbed your mental peace, and most importantly think about how you reacted in those situations. Separate the present you from the version of you that committed those actions and be your own critique.

Anti Meditation is your opportunity to analyze your philosophy of living and everything that is disproportionate about it.
